NAP Donations at ica

Indiana Christian Academy is excited to participate in the Indiana Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), which gives you a unique opportunity to make your donation go even further. Through NAP, your contribution not only supports the mission of ICA but also provides you with a 50% Indiana state tax credit.

That means if you donate $500, you’ll receive a $250 credit directly against your state tax liability. Your generosity strengthens our programs, helps families, and invests in the lives of students—while also giving you a meaningful financial benefit.

How to Give

Community members can give easily through our school website – just tap the “DONATE” button at the end of this section. When making your gift, simply select that your contribution is for NAP. Our office will then provide you with the necessary paperwork so you can claim your tax credit.

Together, we can make a lasting difference for our students and community.

NAP Giving FAQ

What is the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP)?

NAP is a program created by the state of Indiana to encourage charitable giving to eligible organizations. In return for donations, donors receive a state tax credit worth 50% of their gift.

Who qualifies for the NAP tax credit?

Any individual or business with an Indiana tax liability can participate and benefit from the credit.

Is there a limit to how much I can give?

Yes. ICA has been awarded a set amount of NAP credits for the year. Once they are used up, we cannot issue additional tax credits. We encourage donors to give early to ensure they receive the credit.

How is the NAP credit different from a tax deduction?

A deduction lowers the amount of your taxable income. A credit, however, directly reduces the amount of taxes you owe—making it more valuable. For example, a $500 gift through NAP provides you with a $250 credit against your Indiana tax bill.

Why should I give through NAP instead of regular giving?

Giving through NAP doubles the impact of your generosity: you help ICA fulfill its mission of Christ-centered education, and you receive a significant tax savings in return.

SGO Donations

Indiana Christian Academy partners with the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) program to help make Christian education affordable for more families. By donating through an SGO, you provide scholarships that directly benefit ICA students—while also receiving a 50% Indiana state tax credit on your gift.

That means your generosity not only helps students access a Christ-centered education, but it also gives you a meaningful financial benefit at tax time.

How It Works

  • You make a gift to ICA through our approved SGO partner.

  • ICA students receive scholarships made possible by your generosity.

  • You receive a tax receipt that qualifies you for a 50% Indiana state tax credit.

The leverage provided by the tax credit has allowed us to easily double what we would otherwise give. As a business leader and member of our community, it feels great to have our local government encourage generosity toward such a critical and strategic arena.”

Example: If you donate $1,000 through SGO, you will receive a $500 tax credit on your Indiana tax return.

My giving to Sagamore SGO achieves an important objective of targeting my giving to benefit those who desire to have more educational choices. I also feel strongly that it can equip parents with more options so they can make the best educational decision for their children and their family.

What is the Sagamore Institute?
Sagamore is an Indianapolis-based public policy research organization that promotes education excellence. Sagamore’s Scholarships for Education Choice program is certified by the State of Indiana as a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO).

Is there a limit to how much I can give and still receive the tax credit?
No, there is no limit on your donations. The credit is applied to your state tax liability. It may be carried forward up to nine subsequent years, but may not be carried back or refunded.

Who receives the scholarships?
Indiana K-12 students who meet the income eligibility guidelines and attend a participating school.

Can I designate a school or student to receive my gift?
Yes, and no. You may designate one of our participating schools to receive your gift. However, SGO donations may not designate a particular student; this would be considered a tuition payment and is not eligible for a tax credit.
