‘Winds Blow Away Visitors

Homecoming weekend was a great time of fun and excitement for the Whirlwinds. Not only did we have the all-school carnival, but we also had a great time at the Coronation Ceremony as we crowned Katie Bartlett, Queen, and Rick Raison, King of ICA.

The Varsity Soccer team pulled off an impressive win over the Homeschool Strikers on Friday, October 2. With some great assists from Trevin Ascher and Jaron Sidwell, Rick Raison ended up with three goals, a “hat-trick”, to help the Winds defeat the Strikers 3 - 2. Rick’s final goal came with about four minutes remaining in the second half. The Whirlwind defense held strong, turning away the flurry of attacks that the Strikers initiated in the last four minutes. Goalie Austin Richwine made a game-saving deflection as a Striker had broken through the Whirlwind defense in the final 100 seconds of the game. We congratulate the entire team for a great combined effort in order to get the win.

The Jr. High Volleyball match was definitely a good game. The Jr. High team is undefeated, but were tested in three games. The decisive final, pressure-packed game saw the Whirlwinds defeat the North East Lady Tigers 15-12.

In the Varsity Volleyball match, the Lady Winds played very well defeating the North East Lady Tigers in three straight games 25-23, 25-13, 25-13. The team saw many players play well in the win. The Whirlwinds’ serves were on the mark Friday, providing the team with several aces that contributed to the victory.

The ICA soccer and volleyball teams travel to Baptist Academy this Tuesday. The teams are off this Friday. The volleyball teams resume their schedule with a home game on Tuesday. All three teams play Suburban at ICA to close out the regular season on Friday, October 16.
