Indiana Christian Academy High School performs a full length play on May 1 and May 2 at 7 pm in the ICA gymnasium. Mr. Ben Evans directs a cast of 10 in Charley’s Aunt by Brandon Thomas.
Charley’s aunt from Brazil has been extremely good to her nephew Charles Wykeham, putting him through school and university. When she telegraphs to say she is coming to Oxford to take lunch with him, Charley is delighted, as it means he and his friend, Jack Chesney, can also ask two young ladies, with whom they are in love, to lunch. Charley’s aunt will be a perfect chaperone. But Charley’s aunt fails to arrive on time. Another undergraduate friend, “Babbs” (Lord Fancourt Babberly) is coerced into becoming “Charley’s aunt”. Needless to say, all sorts of impossible situations arise from the masquerade-from girlish confessions to protestations of love, Happily all is resolved when the real “Charley’s aunt” arrives and everyone (well, almost everyone) lives happily ever after.
You’ll want to be here Friday, May 1, or Saturday, May 2, to see the last twist of this clever comedy. Tickets may be purchased from a cast member, from the Academy office, or at the door on both performance nights.
