Oldest Christian School in Madison County Gets a New Beginning

Since 1973, Indiana Christian Academy has sought to provide our community with an affordable and superior alternative to public education. In a time when Christian schools were a new idea, ICA blazed a trail for excellence in education and brought traditional principles back to the classroom. Now more than ever Madison County needs a school where kids are loved and challenged academically in a Christian atmosphere.

Saying Goodbye

After twenty-three years of selfless and faithful ministry at ICA, Administrator Bill Newton and his wife Ann are seeking the Lord’s will for their lives and embarking on a new ministry. In 1986, the Newtons brought a new standard of excellence to the school and modeled hard work and faithfulness through the years. Without their sacrifice, ICA would not be what it is today. Though it is hard to see the Newtons move on, we are excited about the future.

New Administrator

Plew FamilyWe are excited to see Kevin Plew accept God’s leading to become the third administrator of ICA. He is the first ICA grad to lead the school. Kevin began his education at ICA in the 70s, won a basketball championship in the 80s, taught high school and coached a volleyball championship in the 90s, and served last year as elementary principal.

New Focus

Mr. Plew has trained and served as a pastor and seeks to bring a shepherd’s heart to the school. His vision is that “while still maintaining high academic standards, our main pursuit at ICA this year will be to show respect and unconditional love to each parent and student that enters the school doors.” Kevin and his wife, Kim (’95 grad) have four kids of their own: Abby (4th), Hannah (1st), Kendall (K5) and Seth (2).

Update: Each teacher will also be asked to make this pledge to the students.

New Courses

Small class sizes will give teachers time for individual attention with every student. And because today’s students need to be prepared early for tomorrow’s challenges, we will be including computer and Spanish classes for every elementary student-along with the visual teaching of SMART Boards in every classroom.

New Changes

Along with the new administrator, new focus on loving students, new faculty and new courses, Mr. Plew will be making new handbook changes with the goal of lovingly helping students grow to be like Christ. There are many changes being made at ICA this summer, and our commitment to provide an excellent, well-rounded, and loving education has never been stronger.
